How to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Diver – Traditional and Online Formats
It’s not hard to become overwhelmed with all the details of getting certified, but it’s actually rather easy.
We have Denver’s most convenient scuba class scheduling. With up to eight classes starting every month, we’re sure to fit your schedule.

Each class requires a few hours of home study before class. We’ll let you know exactly what needs to be done when you sign up, as it varies from class to class. You can also complete ALL of your academics at home with PADI’s Online eLearning program.
The class and pool sessions are held 7 to 8 times a month. Our most popular sessions are our weekend classes, allowing you to complete this stage of training in a single weekend! We also offer weeknight and weekday morning classes.
When you’ve completed your homework and a class and pool session, you’re ready to dive! To complete your certification, your instructor will take you on four Open Water dives, held over two days. These dives are simply an opportunity to show off the skills you learned in the pool. You can do your dives with us, or let us help you arrange your dives on your tropical vacation. It’s your choice!
You have two different Formats from which to choose for completing the Academics for your PADI Open Water Scuba Certification
Option 1 Traditional Format: Pick up your PADI Open Water Manual and DVD at Underwater Phantaseas, do some homework at home (approximately 10 to 12 hours). Then your Instructor will review the material with you in class and administer the quizzes and final exam. Your Instructor will complete your pool training with you and then you are ready to complete your Open Water Certification Dives.
Option 2 Online eLearning Format: Go online and register with PADI and pay a fee in order to access the PADI Open Water Manual and DVD online. You then complete all of the necessary academics at your convenience on your home computer. This format will allow you to greatly reduce the amount of time you spend with us in a formal classroom setting. Your Instructor will complete your pool training with you and then you are ready to complete your Open Water Certification Dives.
