SOUTH AFRICA

SARDINE RUN & SAFARI

Every year in June and July the world's greatest marine migration takes place off the South African Wild Coast. Millions of sardines follow the cold winter currents moving north toward the warm Indian Ocean, bringing with them thousands of predators: dolphins, sharks, whales, seals and marine birds. Join us in summer 2009 when we search the waters of South Africa for sardine bait balls along with the marine birds, dolphins, whales, seals and sharks - follow the hunters!

We will begin our trip in Cape Town, a city dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys. We will visit the famous Cape Peninsula, enjoy a taste of many of South Africa's tastiest wines at the local vineyards and have a chance to cage dive with Great Whites...or if you aren't interested in the cage diving, witness Great White breaching. After four thrilling nights in Cape Town, we will head to the site of the Sradine Run for our once in a lifetime adventure! After 8 adrenaline packed days, we will continue to the Phinda Forest Lodge where we will get to spend our final days in South Africa on safari!

In the remote eastern corner of Botswana, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe rivers, lies an area known historically as the Tuli enclave - a diverse wilderness of savanna, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops. It is here that the largest of the Rattray Reserves is located - Mashatu Game Reserve. Mashatu is the home of no less than seven of Africa's giants: The African elephant, the lion, giraffe, the baobab tree, the eland, the ostrich, and the kori bustard. It is fitting therefore, that some 75,000 acres of pristine game land, be set aside for these unique, prodiious features of this exhilarating continent.

The SEAL Cycle Safari is a unique and thrilling new look at interacting with the inhabitants of the wild bush on their level. See some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa. Enjoy authentic, professionally-catered Africa cuisine around a camp fire. Then fall asleep while listening to the unique sounds of the wild beneath the star filled African sky.
