ALTITUDE DIVER


Diving in Colorado and locations above sea level require special altitude considerations. The PADI Altitude Diver course is designed to help you develope the skills, knowledge and techniques for our local diving environment.

     


PREREQUISITES:

  • Participants must be 10 years of age or older
  • PADI Open Water or Junior Open Water certification or equivalent

COURSE STRUCTURE:

  • Planning, procedures and techniques of altitude diving
  • Safety stop and emergency decompression procedures
  • Special equipment considerations
  • Limited visibility diving and underwater navigation techniques
  • Freshwater environment overview
  • Cause, signs, symptoms and prevention of hypoxia and hypothermia while diving at altitude

OPEN WATER DIVING:

2 open water dives with a certified PADI instructor are required to complete the PADI Altitude Diver course.


MATERIALS REQUIRED:

  • PADI Altitude Specialty - $46.00
  • Altitude Conversion Tables - $12.95
  • PADI certification processing fee - $50.00

COURSE FEE:  $100.00*

* Discounted course fee is based on purchasing necessary materials directly from UWP.  


INCLUDED:

  • 2 open water dives with a certified PADI instructor
  • Tanks, wetsuit, weights and weight belts for open water dives
  • 10% discount on all diving equipment purchased during your term as a student

NOT INCLUDED:

  • BCD, regulator, etc. for the open water dives (but may be rented)
  • Transportation, meals and accommodations for the open water dives
  • Entry fees for open water dive locations

ALTITUDE DIVER COURSE:

**No classroom or pool sessions required**

The PADI Altitude Diver course was designed for the local diving conditions of Colorado. If you plan to continue diving the lakes, quarries, rivers, and reservoirs here at high altitude, this course will give you the added safety and comfort needed to really enjoy our local diving environment.
